Castellos do Sal
Part of my time in Sal was spent helping the Charity .
This involved helping with the meal times and cooking basic food for the kids , often it was the only warm meal they received in the day.
In the early days and inception of the school the food was basic so we introduced eggy bread and bread and butter pudding due to the fact that the local bakers donated bread rolls ever day !
Obviously this has greatly improved with more substantial meals a full time chef .
The kids always wanted to get involved and help cooking cleaning and just being with the volunteers.
The School helped vulnerable children from difficult backgrounds .
The main aim was to help with school work, hygiene and to keep them from wondering the streets .
With a good warm meal every day.
Currently the school is closed due to Covid 19 restrictions ” Unfortunately this is when the kids need the help the most ”
The School will be back and helping the Children soon and needs all the support and donations possible
