Charity walk around Sal
During my time in Sal and working with the Castellos da Sal children , I decided to organise a sponsored charity walk around the island of Sal .
The walk was 86 km and took 4 days camping along the way each night on a different beach.
The first walk was to walk the Island in 4 sections checking out the route and camping spots.
Then in May before the weather got too hot we walked up the east coast from Santa Maria to Serra Negra then stage 2 was Pedra de lume, stage 3 was Buracona and the blue eye. then finally walking through Palmeira fishing village and back down the west coast to the base of Monte Leon and home to Santa Maria .
Where we received a great welcome from friends and the children of Castellos da Sal.
A big thanks to the support team namely the wives and the Children who pushed us along.
We managed to raise €3500 for the charity at a time when in its infancy the funds were greatly appreciated. .
